Semaglutide is a popular medication. It’s the active ingredient inside of Wegovy, Ozempic, and Rybelsus. A lot of the excitement around this treatment is its ability to help people lose weight.

It’s important to know what to expect before starting on compounded Semaglutide treatments. While Semaglutide treatments are relatively straightforward, there are dosage increases you should expect, as well as possible side effects, and tips to maximize your results. In this article, we will let you know the top 5 things to expect when using your compounded Strut Health Semaglutide treatment.

1. Expect to request or receive regular dosage increases

Dosage increases are to be expected while you are using Semaglutide treatments. This goes for whether you are using compounded or brand name options, or oral or injectable formulations.

Usually, these dosage increases happen after each month, until you reach your maintenance dosage. A maintenance dosage may differ from person to person. But, what you and your doctor are looking for is a dosage that helps you lose weight, while keeping your side effects manageable.

Below, is the general month-by-month dosage increases you might expect when using Strut Health oral or injectable Semaglutide. As you can see, in the beginning, most users tend to increase their dosage after each month. Remember – not everyone’s Semaglutide treatment journey will be the same. You will discuss any ongoing or uncomfortable side effects and weight loss results with your doctor before increasing to make sure the next dosage is a good idea for you.

With Strut Health, you should keep track of your treatment month, and request dosage increases with each monthly refill by contacting your Strut provider as you are coming up for dosage increases.

Month 6+ – One 3,000 mcg (3 mg) lozenge once daily

*These are general dosages through the months and may differ based on your exact prescription, medication strength, or your response to the medication. Always follow the instructions that came with your medication. Reach out to our team or your prescribing doctor if you have questions about what your dosage should be.

2. Expect low or minimal weight loss at first

The first weeks to month or two of treatment, you should not expect dramatic weight loss results. In fact, it’s normal for some people to not be getting weight loss results just yet.

Think of the first few months as an acclimation period for the medication. This gets the body used to Semaglutide, while helping to slowly ease your body into the changes occurring. This can help reduce side effects and help you stay compliant with your medication for the long term. Ultimately, this slow increase period is meant to deliver the best overall results to you (with hopefully minimized gastrointestinal side effects).

Other people may experience weight loss results starting sooner, and that can be normal too. It’s important to stay in touch with how you are feeling and managing the side effects in these first few months. Weight loss may or may not be happening yet, and either way is ok. If you are on months 2 or 3 and onward and still are not noticing weight loss or appetite reduction, speak with your doctor to figure out the next steps.

3. Expect regular monthly shipments of your medication to your door

Strut Health will continue shipping out regular shipments of your medication to your door each month, as you are due for a refill. This is to help you stay on track with your treatment, without you even having to think about it.

However, as explained above, if you are due for a dosage increase to get up to those higher maintenance dosages, be sure to contact us here at Strut Health for your dosage increase in the week leading up to your next shipment.

You can pause your medication shipments at any time by contacting our customer service via email or the chat box on the main page struthealth.com.

4. Expect some level of side effects

It’s not unusual to experience some side effects while using Semaglutide medications. In fact, more people using Semaglutide will experience some level of side effects than not. Luckily, many of these tend to reduce or go away with time and continued use of the medication.

The most common side effects from Semaglutide and related medications are gastrointestinal related. That includes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, or gas and bloating.

These side effects might be worse when you first start on Semaglutide or when your dosage is increased. You might be able to manage these with over-the-counter medications or diet adjustments. Let your doctor know if these are severe or make you want to stop using the medication. Most people are able to work through mild to moderate side effects and continue using the medication.

Keep in mind that part of why these side effects happen is the same reason why Semaglutide helps with weight loss. It slows digestion and helps you feel fuller for longer. In turn, you may experience these issues from slowed digestion.

5. Expect making lifestyle changes to maximize your results

Semaglutide can be a great medication for many people, and give them a strong head start into a lasting weight loss change for better overall health. But, it’s important to keep in mind that it is meant to be used a one tool in an overall healthier lifestyle plan including healthy food choices and exercise.

To help yourself achieve the best possible results with Semaglutide, and also maintain those results long-term, try to adjust your lifestyle during your treatment. This includes making healthier food choices; opting for high-protein, high fiber, whole-foods. Avoid processed, fried, or fatty foods. This is also a great time to start getting into a lasting exercise routine that you can sustain long-term. These lifestyle changes will make it easier to lose weight while using Semaglutide, and when you eventually stop using the medication.
